Akua Mau Lima i Loko o Ka Noi
(God’s Hands in Motion)
“Let them give glory unto the Lord and declare His praises in the islands.” – Isaiah 42:12
God created us to worship Him. He also gave us the gift of dance, the beautiful hula…not as a performance, but rather as a unique expression to worship the KUMUKAHI (the number one Source), CREATOR of the universe.
Our Purpose: Because hula crosses all language and cultural barriers, this ministry is a vessel of the Good News of Jesus Christ in which we praise and glorify our Heavenly Father reflecting the culture in which we live in.
Our Mission: As part of this ministry, we try to live according to God’s word. As part of this culture, we know hula to be more than just a dance. We are taking the value system of the Hawaiians and apply the word of God to guide us in this hula worship ministry and in other areas in our lives.
Aloha – Love in its purest form
“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
Kupono ana – Proper behavior
“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” Romans 12:9
Lokahi – Harmony to strengthen relationships
“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” Psalms 133:1
Ohana – Family relationships
“Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of His household” Esphesians 2:19
Malama – Caring for one another and your environment
“Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.” Philippians 2:4
Pono – Goodness, correct, proper, righteous. Pono is a way of life
“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of the righteousness in place” Ephesians 6:14
This class is free and meets after the second service on Sundays in the Youth Room.
